No work today, so to celebrate I rounded up a small posse and invaded Bulldog Bend for some much needed deep water bouldering! It was nice and quiet for about 2 hours, then the drunks floated down and changed the entire mood of the day. It sure was fun watching them try to walk the slackline though!

Whenever a group of us go down to Limestone, we can always expect a decent amount of haggling, which usually stops once they realize that we actually CAN climb up 'dat der rock' and we can always expect some drunk fratbot to try to show us up by doing something crazy off the rock. I don't really understand it, seeing as getting off the rock is the easy part, but for some reason or another, they always start yelling 'Hey! bechall can't do dis shit!' which is usually followed by a loud POP and a whole lot of laughing.

Today's challenge was a backflip off the second platform, roughly about 15 feet above the water. The maneuver was followed with a loud pop and a whole lot of laughing.

Best day off all week!

So I spent this past weekend as well as $240 at Sandrock, and I must say, it was worth it! I was quite sceptical about what I was getting into, seeing as I can't really afford to just throw away that kinda money, but our instructors were completely legit and the amount of knowledge I now possess about building anchors, repelling, knots, single pitch rescue, and proper trad placement justifies the splurge. I am completely confident now in my ability to safely and efficiently guide groups through the crag, as well as motivated and eager to pursue continued education and eventually certification.

didn't have a whole lot of time for picture taking, but we did manage to find a few hours each day to get out and enjoy the only crag in Alabama that wasn't getting dumped on with rain.

Awesome day today! Hung out with Ziggy and and an army of 'little dudes'. Even got to witness one of em land their first kickflip!

And yes, the big dudes got to skate a little bit too.

Seems to be the week to run into old friends. Here's a few from skating last night with good ol' Gabe!

Had several random encounters with nature this past week.

Today, I found myself at Lake Mitchel, enjoying the sun with some good friends from way back when. It's wakeboarding season!

Looking forward to getting some really good shots over the next few weeks, and with any luck, avoiding any mishaps involving my camera and the bottom of the lake...

My most recent attempt at tracking...

Monday, June 1, 2009

This past Sunday Josh, David and Liz hosted a crawfish boil/housewarming/birthday party. If you boil it, they will come... And they did! Infant to elder, boarder to biker and everyone in between gathered in the newly landscaped backyard, complete with a full size trampoline, more food than the counters could hold and enough alcohol for a catholic mass. Not always the best combination, but this time it worked!

Several were hesitant to try the lobster of the south, but just the right amount of peer presure can go a long way. Here's Adam suckin butt for the first time.

Now for some trampoline shots.

More people, more dogs, more crawfish.

Thanks again to Liz and the Howard boys for putting this all together! Can't wait till next year!
